Intel's New Devices Group was working on a pair of all day, wearable AR glasses that look like ordinary glasses.
The display was a laser powered retinal projection system, refracted off of holographic film imbedded in the lens. The display location was designed by engineers to be about 25° below the user's horizon.

I wanted to know if that was an ideal position from a usability perspective.

Because we didn't have access to the actual hardware yet, I built an experience prototype of what it would be like to use the glasses in various situations using Google VR and a 360 camera. I built the ability to adjust the location and we tested the simulation among users to find that the ideal location is closer to 12°.
This experience prototype also proved useful in testing user scenarios, UI elements, interaction and communicating the experience to executive management.
